I reached my goal on Monday at clinic! I had just 3 goals in mind for the day:

1. Finish 4 quads=the whole mouth of a Class 2

2. Pass off the exploring #2 (class 2 or class 3) PE

3. Pass off the anterior scaling #2 PE

It felt so good to not only set a goal before clinic started, but to actually accomplish the goal! I didn't do as great as I had hoped with the scaling, I missed 4 spots on the lingual of the lower anteriors. My patients teeth were pretty malposed which made it extremely hard! The calculus on this particular patient was so tenacious! I used the ultrasonic a little bit at the first, but I was a little timid using it. I'm not totally comfortable with it just yet. On tooth # 15 which is located on the UR right by the parotid gland had so much calculus that took forever to get off and I couldn't even get it all! It was stubborn stuff!! It was a good learning experience though and I will hopefully do better next time.

Valentine's was so much fun. Heath had night class and didnt come home till a little after 8. I had a big dinner all ready and he brought home flowers and chocolate, the best V-day gift ever! We watched a chick flick and ate chocolate cake for dessert. We are going away this weekend to go snowmobiling which we are SO excited about!

Today was a good day. I started out clinic feeling overwhelmed, but by the end I felt confident. I finished my first quad of a class 2 patient today. My patient was the nicest guy ever! As I was walking him out he said to me, "You are so good, when you graduate and are working at an office I am going to follow you there". Isn't that so sweet?!?!?!

I feel excited and happy! I LOVE clinic days! They are so much fun and full of so many good learning opportunities! Tommorow I get to be my peer pal's patient for her anesthesia boards..... you know what that means?! ShoTs! :( wish me luck!

Class V continued :)

I finished up my class V patient today! WAHOO!! This has been another HARD week! I know, I know, thats what I said last week but honestly... Am I cut out for this?!? Sometimes I wonder if I am smart enough to be in this program. We have so many smart, amazing, brilliant souls in our class. Today has been a good day though. I attended the Liason meeting for all the clubs at WSU representing SADHA aka the dental hygiene club and it got me super excited about all the activities coming up. I hope that we can come together and get involved and participate in our school activites. I got to clinic and got a letter saying that I get to be a TA next year for my favorite instructor (Perry's) class! I am SO excited!! Clinic was challenging but good, I missed 1 spot which is pretty good and I got off most of the tenacious stain which was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I used the ultrasonic, but still dont feel super comfortable with it. It was so neat working on my first "stranger" patient. She was so sweet and I just loved her! I am so grateful to be in this program and getting to learn so many great things not only about school, but LIFE! :)

CLASS V

Wow, it has been a LONG week (to say the least)! I honestly don't even remember who my patient was on Monday....
Oh yeah! It was my cousing Katie! I finished her cleaning in 1hr 30 mins and didn't miss a single spot! That never happens by the way so I was extremely excited! I have only passed off 3 PE's this semester and need to get my butt in gear! It's so hard to remember when there is so much going on and you just want to finish that patient in your chair so they don't have to come back again! Monday we had a going away party for one of our darling 2nd year professors. I am so sad that I won't get the opportunity to work with her. She will be greatly missed.
It has been such a LONG week seeing that we had 2 test on Tuesday. It was brutal! I did well on my Patho test, and did okay on my Perio test. Glad they are over! This week we have 2 more tests so it's going to be another long one.
I saw my first class V patient on wednesday and it was so much fun. This was my first patient that was a stranger and a lot different working on someone you don't know. It was a great experience! I couldn't believe her pocket depths! I loved using the ultrasonic on her coffee stains, but man those stains are so hard to get off! I am still loving school and getting to learn so much! It's so hard and stressful at times, but its so nice to know that we are all in this together! I love all of my classmates so much! See ya next week!

Today Amy came all the way down to WSU from Smithfield!!! I know, she is sucha great friend! We were able to scale 2 quads today which I feel happy about. My instructor didn't find any areas that I missed when she did the scale check (that was a first) and everything went great. Amy was an easy patient though. :) we were planning on going to dinner before this stupid storm rolled in so im kinda bummed. My cute brother Tom was at WSU today for the career fair. He invited me to come down for lunch and it was so much fun hanging out with him for a little minute. Thanks AMY! You are the best!

Today I got to have the cutest patient! My husband of course! :) And guess who hit a milestone?!?!

I did I did

I completed a whole cleaning! I started Heath and did one quad last semester so today was the easy part. We scaled 3 quads in a little over an hour and a half and I even used the ultrasonic for his lingual bar. I was glad to have our TA Karen's help. He had a lot of calculus behind his lingual bar and I loved getting it off! This is what I am talking about ppl! This is why I signed up for this. I love getting those big chunks of "stuff" off! Today was a great day for me. I felt good about scaling for the most part. I have a long way to go though. Instructor Hafen showed me a great way to get calculus off the retainer by doing a horizontal stroke both below and above that bar. She is such a great instructor and gives awesome feedback! Thanks Instructor Hafen and Heath for being so patient and coming at the last minute! I can totally do this! I am so grateful for today and for this milestone YAY!

Monday Clinic- Katie

Monday was my second first patient :) haha I say that because I saw Heath for one appt last semester and so, my cute cousin Katie came on Monday. I was pretty frustrated because we didn't get to the scaling part. I did complete 4 BWX's and a panoramic X-ray that I was way excited about! X-rays are the easiest thing for me. I feel lucky that I have had so much experience in them because they can be a real pain! I hope that I get faster at all the paperwork side of this. There are so many things that we have to do and write, but I have a positive outlook that those things will come with time... Staying positive!

School is back in full swing! I can't believe how fast Christmas break came and went. It was so much fun and so hard to get back into the grind. I am excited to start a new year with new goals/dreams. Here are some of my resolutions:

EXCERCISE!
Be a better wife/friend/sister/student/daughter/aunt/etc.
Make time for the little things in life
keep my clothes off the floor
Finish cleaning a patient during 1 clinic session
Get a 4.0 this semester
Go on a trip to somewhere sunny and warm
Go hunting with Heath

I know, some are cheesy but I honestly love the beginnings of the New Year. I am excited to the things that this year will bring us.

Clnic started on Wednesday and we learned how to use ultrasonics. I wish I would've practiced instrumentation over the break because I felt rusty. I was excited about learning how to use these because I have seen them used so many times and it just looked so easy... it wasn't at all! It was so hard and I found myself getting so frustrated. We start seeing patients 2 x's a week this semester so we have the stress of not only having a heavy class schedule, but also the stress of finding patients. I am excited, nervous, scared and anxious all at once. Bring on this semester!

Christmas Fun!

This Christmas break has been so much fun! Man! I just love not having school and hanging out! I like to be lazy a little too much. :)

Me and my neices Grace and Madi got to go stay in Heber with my sister Wednesday night then we headed back to stay in Midway Thursday night with my cute brother Mark and his family then headed to the Soldier Hollow tubing hill on Friday. It was a BLAST and totally worth the $20 bucks for 2 hours of happiness. It's crazy this year because there was NO snow at all in Midway so we got to experience the man made stuff.

We also went to see sweet Gage at the cemetery. His headstone turned out completely perfect and it was good to go there and just think about all the memories I have with that darling boy. I miss him, especially during this season. It's crazy how much his baby sister reminds me of him. Merry Christmas Gagee.

Christmas was great! I can't believe it is already over. We spent Christmas eve with Heath's family eating yummy food, playing games and acting out the nativity. This year I was excited that I just got to watch the nativity. :) Heath was a cute wisemen though.

Christmas we spent with just us at our new home which was so much fun! I loved seeing Heath open his presents. I didn't get him anything too exciting just the usual stuff. Coat, shoes, shirts, a watch and stuff like that. My favorite present was some cute four wheeling gloves that are pink and black! :)

Last day of Clinic for my first semester

I can't believe that I am coming to the end of my FIRST semester of the hygiene program! I am 1/4 of the way done can you believe that?!? I have been reflecting on how far I have come in the past 3 months and its crazy how much I have learned. I still have a long way to go, but I am on my way. Weber State's hygiene program is tough and a lot is expected from you. Being held to such a high standard has really pushed me and I am so thankful for it. I have never done so well in my entire life. I love dental hygiene and am so glad I kept pushing for it. It's that much sweeter because I have tried so many times and kept trying since I knew its what I wanted to do! Hard work really does pay off, I am a huge example of that. Don't give up on your dreams!

REAL life patient day

I am SO glad today is over! Okay, honestly it wasn't that bad just got off to a rough start. My brother was supposed to be my patient. Had him scheduled, had his health history and treatment record all filled out and ready to go and then this morning 30 minutes before he was supposed to be there I got a text saying that he just couldn't make it. (which means, I HAVE TO FIND A PATIENT or else i fail!)
I panicked.
Luckily Heath had a 7:30-8:30 class that he had to go to, but he told me he would come up after and let me work on him.
He honestly saved my day!
So, he came up and it was so fun getting to work on him. We took X-rays and even got to scale 1 quad which I was super proud of!
husbands are the best!
I owe mine big time today!
Better find something good for dinner to make! :)
Only one more day till Thanksgiving break!!!

Mock patient day 2!!

Come Monday I will be seeing my very first real patient! Today we finished up our mock patients. It was a good day. I still DO NOT feel ready for Monday! Good thing its my brother that is coming, I'm sure he has no idea what he is going to be in for and we will keep it that way! :)

Life is good. I can't complain. We got all moved, boxes unpacked and now we just need to decorate and get it looking more like home. It is SO nice! We are both loving it so much and we are glad we made the decision. The drive isn't bad at all and its fun being so close to my mamacita! Untill next time folks!

I cleaned my first set of pearly whites today on my cute friend Candice. I had a nightmare last night about it and could NOT sleep at all since I was so nervous! I'm happy to say that it went actually pretty well. Candice's teeth were so clean and she had like one tiny piece of calculus and NO plaque at all. It was a good clinic day, but I am glad its over. Hopefully I will get the hang of scaling and eventually become a pro! Anyone want their teeth cleaned? It's only $32 dollars at our clinic and $2 for each x-ray! I will need a lot of people next semester so let me know! :)

With my pearly whites all clean! Next week I will be the operator, so It will be alot different than clinic this week. This week I got to come in normal clothes and just hangout in the chair. Next week it will be stressful to put all the skills I have learned thus far to work! :)

We are also moving on Friday and Saturday which adds a ton of stress! We are excited though and it will be so worth it to be closer to OUR families!

Today I got to be patient! It was so fun to come later and get to have my teeth cleaned! Candice did awesome and it was so much fun! It makes me so excited to get to actually see patients. Can you believe my first semester of hygiene school is almost over?!?? Nuts huh? From here on out we have mock patient days for the next two weeks and then....

NOVEMBER 21ST is when we see our FIRST patient!

I am excited, scared, nervous, anxious, and don't know if I will ever be quite ready. :)

It is going to be super busy for us the next few weeks as we pack up and prepare to move to my hometown of Brigham City! We are so excited to have our very own place, but we are so grateful for the time that we have gotten to spend in South Weber.

Sealant day, my favorite day!

Today we got to do sealants on each other! It was so much fun and takes me back to my assisting days. Laken was a little easier to work on than a child though, which made my job a BREEZE! It was so much to feel comfortable doing them. I knew exactly what to do and how to do it which doesn't happen very often in clinic. Happy Halloween! Me and my hubs are going to carve pumpkins and watch a scary movie to celebrate this scary holiday! :)

Treatment planning

Today we learned how to enter a patient into the computer software program that we use called eaglesoft. It was pretty easy, but I do have to say I am more of a Dentrix kind of girl! (thats another type of computer software that most offices use.) We got a pretty "chill" day in clinic which was way nice.

This weekend was such a GREAT weekend, fall break was Friday, so Heath and I got to hang out then My Mom and I went shopping at Kohl's where I purchased my new white comforter!!! I am re-doing our bedroom and I can't decide if I want to do blue with the white or do green and refinish my furniture black... any suggestions?!?! My Mom also bought us a Memory foam for our mattress and I swear by it! OUR bed is heavenly!! It as originally priced a little of $300, but we got it for $108 and it was worth every penny!

Yesterday was my sweet nephew Gage's birthday. He would have turned 5. Sad day, but I enjoyed watching videos of him and remembering his sweet spirit. WE celebrated at the cemetery where we wrote messages to him and tied them to purple balloons. It was priceless and something I will never forget. I love you Gage!

Also, we ARE MOVING! To Brigham! IN a week and a half! Crazy I know?!?! We will miss SOuth Weber and our cute family that lives upstairs, but we are excited to be in our own new place!

But, Clinic today was pretty good today, I passed off posterior scaling! Woo Woot! I really cannot believe it. I got to work with my bestie Candice today and it was so much fun! she is so good and easy to work on. :)

Other than that, I have to take an anatomy test by Friday and things are just as busy as ever.

Intra oral camera and practice day!

Today was a RoUGH day in clinic... it was an easy day as far as the intra-oral camera, but we had to start at the very beginning with what we've learned and practice on out patient. This is what we had to do:
Health History- have patient sign if its been longer than a year, if not write HHX no changes and status RX no tx alterations
Extra Oral exam
Intra Oral Exam
Chart occlusion and all restorations present in the mouth
Probe
OD check by instructor
OHI
Scaling
and the list goes on and on....
It was hard to remember EVERYTHING, and to remember when we needed to get signatures from our instructors before we proceeded. I really am struggling lately, I'm ready for fall break on Friday that is for sure! Thanks Erin for being such a Great Patient! You are awesome! :)

Dental Screening

Today we learned about charting what we see in the mouth. I was worried at first about being able to see composite fillings, but it was actually easier than I thought. I also passed off TWO PE's which I am totally stoked about! PE's are the most stressful things ever! We have to pass off everything that we learn, so an instructor comes over and watches you! It's nerve racking! Today was a fun day in clinic and I am feeling a little more comfortable everyday. Happy Wednesday!

Bleeding Purple

My last blog title is actually quite funny seeing that right after that post I got SUPER sick and was throwing up more than I have thrown up in my entire life! Good thing i can laugh about it now... Anyway today I am back to feeling normal and it is so great after feeling so crappy. Today clinic was a lot of fun. WE used that purple disclosing agent that shows plaque on your teeth, so you can know where you need to brush better. Of course all of us are freaks when it comes to brushing and flossing our teeth so it wasn't too exciting. We got time to practice scaling which I needed and it was a great day at clinic today! Oh P.S.... We just got the news Saturday that Heath's sister Aubree and her cute husband Cory are having their first baby in April, and my brother Mark and his wife are expecting their 3rd baby in May! YAY! We are so excited! Congrats guys!

when we celebrated my mommy's B-day! It was so much fun! Jill came down from Heber and suprised my mom at dinner at the Olive Garden. After dinner we went and had cake and ice cream at my Brother's house. It was such a fun night! I LOVE my Mom so much! She really is the most amazing gal on this planet!

The gang, this is only a small part of my family. We were missing my 3 other siblings. Doesn't Jill look so good? :) It makes me happy

It was such a blur, we have so many things that we learn and has to pass of so fast I don't even know anymore.

Clinic today was all about exploring with an explorer. It was pretty hard, I'm kinda stressing. I can't even figure which end is the RIGHT end to use! They both look pretty much the same to me. I will have to practice.... AlOT! We also learned a little about adapting the instrument with the line angles of the teeth. Hailey was a trooper and let me poke her gums! Thanks Hailey! :)

I have no idea why I have Justin Bieber's Baby song in my head. Hahaha, but I do. OH my, don't even ask. Today in clinic we got to probe on an actual person! It was rad. We first practiced on the typodont which kinda sorta helped, but not really. Then we got to practice on a real live person and it was so much fun! I need alot of practice, but I loved it. I also am so pumped about America's next top model all star season. :) Happy Wednesday! No more classes for the week oh ya!

Intra Oral Examinations

Today in clinic we learned how to do intra-oral exams. Intra: meaning INSIDE the mouth for all of you bloggers who have no idea what that means. :) It was fun if you like sticking your fingers in people's mouths and filling all around.. which I'd admit I LIKE.

It was neat learning about all of these structures that we all have in our mouths that I never knew were there. Example:

Don't worry, me neither untill today. I personally do NOT have them, but my bestest pod partner Jacque did have them. They are little spots inside your cheek just inside the corners of your mouth. Check and see if you have them. They aren't bad, just something new to learn. :)

Today in clinic we learned how to do exra oral examinations and boy did it feel lovely! I closed my eyes and for a minute I thought I was at the spa getting a facial. Then I woke up to reality and realized I was in clinic supposed to be paying attention. It was a pretty neat day. Learned alot about how early detection with cancer screenings are the key!

Did you know that I have my very own purple blood pressure cuff aka a sphygmomanometer?
Pretty cool huh?! :)
It's dang cute and we even learned how to use it today. You may ask why we learn about vitals when we are studying dental hygiene, but we do vitals ( BP, pulse, and respirations) at the beginning of every appointment to make sure that our patient is healthy and that we are able to treat them without risking their health. I have only worked at 1 office in 6 years that actually practiced this. It was at Logan Dental where it was my job as the hygiene assistant to take the BP. It was easier though because we just had one of those cuffs that you place on the wrist and it takes the blood pressure for you.
I think it is a great idea to take vitals, I think that its something that I would promote when I get out of school.... someday soon! :)

Labor day weekend was so much fun! I mean how could driving for 12 hours in two days with the Lewis family not be the best trip ever?

And our destination?... Yep, the prettiest place in the West

WYOMING!

We went to celebrate Heath's great-grandma, Violet's 99th Birthday. The drive usually would've made me SO car sick, but I got all doped up on motion sickness pills which are my new best friends. The way there I sat in front of the Yukon as Heath drove and just studied and read my little heart out. It was perfect. We left bright n early Saturday morning and arrived around 1. We had our taste of real Wyoming food at the Sundowner diner (YucK!) and did you know ppl can still smoke at places like that outside of Utah? Heath and I snuck out and went to Taco Bell for Chalupas instead. :) Sunday we went to see Grandma Violet and attended her Birthday party. It was alot of fun. She is the cutest little lady, and she LOVED having Heath close to her. She kept kissing him and hugging him. It was precious. Violet has kind of a hard time remembering ppl so before she realized who Heath was she said," I wished I would've danced with you a long time ago. He had so much fun seeing his grandma. She danced with her son, Heath's grandpa Max and Heath got so choked up. It was so sweet seeing Heath get so emotional and I just realized how AMAZING my husband is. Honestly, I have never met someone so caring, so tender hearted, so handsome in my entire life. I love this picture of him and Violet. Anyway, I am so glad we got to hangout with the Lewis families for Labor Day. Now, for this weekend.....

Today clinic was super biz! We learned all about Health history's and how medications can effect so many things in our patient's. It was a good day and clinic went by so fast! I also took my first test in the dental hygiene program and I PASSED! :) what a great day!

Today was such a fun slash hard clinic day. First, I have to say Happy 25th B-Day to my cute hubby yesterday! I suprised him with a pizza party with our families. Heath's mom, sister, and brother came all the way from Smithfield! It was so great enjoying everyone's company. The homemade German chocolate cake even turned out! Anyway, It was a fun day. Today at clinic was Super BUSY! We learned how to properly hold the instruments and different positions to sit around the patients head. It was kinda confusing and hard, but I am going to take my instruments home tonight so I can practice. Another successful day.... SO FAR SO GOOD... :)

In Memory of Gage...

I haven't had the time or the energy to post for the past few months. There has been so much going on and it has been such a weird summer for me and every single member in my family. June 19th has always been a hard day for me and my siblings just becuase we have never had a Dad in our lives so that day is always an extremely hard day for me. Now, it will be much harder. June 19 2011 will be a day that we will never forget. This year for some reason we decided we would go to my mom's first since most of my siblings were going then we would go to Heath's parents house later that night. We arrived at my mom's house at 3:00pm and quickly went next door to my grandma's to eat. We hardly ever eat at my grandma's anymore since our family has grown so much but, for some reason we went over there this father's day. We ate, played outside, got the frisbee stuck in the tree and were jumping on the tramp. Heath, me, and my 2 nieces went over to my mom's to check our laundry.... the phone rang and my niece Shaylee answered it and hurried to give me the phone. It was my brother in law Brandon's sister crying and saying that my sister, her husband and 2 kids had gotten hit head on coming down Provo canyon and my 4 yr old nephew Gage didn't make it and that Jill and Brandon had been life-lighted to the U of U hospital. I cannot even begin to describe how I felt at that time, I repeated what she said and hung up. My Niece had heard what I had said and was already out the door to my grandparents next door. I made it over right after she had told everyone and repeated it again hoping that it wasn't real. Each family hopped in their cars and Heath, my mom and I jumped in ours and drove the hour long drive to Salt Lake not knowing if they were even alive and going to make it. We arrived as they were prepping Jill for surgery, she looked so awful, she had a huge laceration on her shoulder where she had lost alot of blood, she had an oxygen mask on, and I will never forget seeing her like that, but so glad she was okay. She had multiple breaks and fractures, her knee shattered into 50+pieces, she broke her shoulder, wrist finger all on one arm, and her ankle. Anyway, after a long few months with losing my sweet nephew gage, moving, and starting school it has been crazy. I miss Gage so much and wish I would've been a better aunt. I will never forget the last time I saw him on June 6th how cute he was. We colored for ever! He kept saying April I can't do it, I kept telling him how great at coloring he was. I love that little boy! He was always such a busy body and so much fun. He had the most contagious laugh that was so precious. Good thing I have such a strong testimony and knowledge of the gospel. I know that I will get to see Gage again and I also know that he is back home and in a better place than we are here. I can't wait for that day!

Wednesday Happenings

It is SO hot today! In clinic while we were sitting listening to our instructor and our presenter (Ann Arrington) my cute old neighbor and her cool Blue Boa thing-a-ma-jig, my back was wet from sweat! I know, to much information right? Anyway, back to my second day of clinic. It went well, I passed off my very first PE and you might want to sit down for when I tell you this.. I PASSED! Good thing it was just on the computer program which I would hope I know how to do after working as an assistant for so long. We also had a guest presenter like I mentioned earlier with this really great suction called the Blue Boa. Val would love this! Its a suction that you can have in your patients mouth while you use the ultra sonic, you don't have to hold it so you can still hold your mirror in your hand which would help you to see all surfaces of teeth without compromising your posture. Today was our first day in clinic. It went alot better then I thought it was going to. I couldn't sleep last night because I kept dreaming that I was going to wake up late and that everything that could possibly go wrong would. Turns out I came prepared, got to school in time to find a parking spot and get everything ready. We learned the basics and put all of our instruments in our drawers. I think I am going to love it! Yay to the WSU- Dental Hygiene class of 2013!!

It was our FIRST anniversary on May 22, 2011! So weird that it has already been a year since I married my bestest friend and made the best decision of my entire life to marry Heath. This year has been such an amazing year. I have learned so much about loving another person more than myself and learning how to put someone else's needs before mine. For our anniversary I had a couple of suprises in store for my hubby. I sent him on a scavenger hunt around Logan to all or our favorite places including the logan temple and the scavenger hunt ended with me waiting for him at the anniversary inn. :) It was so fun to plan it and to see his face when he came to the inn. We stayed in the Hawaiin Paradise room to re-live our honeymoon to Hawaii and it was so much fun! I also suprised Heath with his Quilt! He loved loved loved it and it was so worth all the time and hard work. It was such a great weekend! Spent Saturday at the temple doing sealings and then we went to dinner at Le Nonne. It was a perfect end to a perfect year!

(seeing that I wanted this cute fossil watch for my b-DAY and thats the only place that has a fossil outlet) Well......

Lots of updates!!! This week at work was CRAzy HaiR DaY! We had a contest to see who's hair our patients liked best. They each got to vote and winner got $40 bucks. Of course Dr. Allen won, but he gave the winning pot to the first runner up.... which was ME!

This is Ilse, Tori, and I. I thinkTori got robbed. Her hair was soo cute! she had floss and toothbrushes in it!

Monday, I had an orientation for Dental Hygiene. I was kind of nervous, but I am way glad I went. I got to meet my 29 other classmates (including 2 boys) We ordered our cute lab coats and had dinner. Oh how I can't wait for August to come! :)

Conference weekend is always my favorite. Heath and I got up Sunday morning and made breakfast then watched the first session here at our apartment then we headed to BC to spend some time with my fam. It was soooo good! My favorite was Richard G. Scott's talk "The eternal blessings of marriage." It was BEAUTIFUL. If you missed it you have got to watch it!

My mom came up last Saturday and had this huge wrapped present in her hands. I said who is that for? and she said oh its your early birthday present, its nothing exciting. I hurried and opened it..... GUESS WHAT IT WAS?!?!?!

I am so excited, I can't even believe that she got me one! Well I can because she probably got sick of me always borrowing hers. Haha but I am so excited. I love it and have already used it alot making this.

This is a camo quilt for my cute husband for our 1st anniversary present. He has seen it, but he thinks its for my grandpa. Its so cute because he keeps saying... that is so cool! Can we make us one after? Little does he know its for him! I finished sewing the squares today and now just have to figure out what I am going to do for the back. :) I can't wait to give it to him next month. Thanks Mom, you're the best!

The Longest Flight

Heath and I had such a great trip to Tennessee. We got to do so many fun things with some of our favoritest people. We went to the Nashville Zoo, saw Blake Shelton, the band Perry, David Neal, and even Brad Paisley at the Grand Ole Opry, visited the Opryland Hotel, celebrated my sister's B-day,stayed a night by the Smokey Mountains, and enjoyed alot of time reading books and playing Just Dance with our nieces. It was Awesome! We got to spend 9 days just hanging out with my sister's darling family. Here are some pics from our trip....

Saturday, the day before we were supposed to come home I made Heath text our cute landlords/friends that live below us to see if anything had come in the mail from Weber State. Sure enough guess what? Dallin said there was a letter that came for me and anyway I had the hardest time debating on if he should just open in for me so I wouldn't have to wait almost 48 hours just to know if I got accepted or not. I decided not to let him open it, It has been too long awaited to not open it myself. Sunday we left TN at 6:30pm and our flights home were both packed which means I didnt even get to sit by Heath due to Southwest's dumb seating arrangement. It was the longest flight of my entire LIFE! We flew in to SLC at 11:30pm and didnt make it back to our apartment in Logan till 1am. I knew the second I LAYED eyes on the big white envelope in our mailbox that I GOT ACCEPTED! So, pretty much we were so excited and I just sat there and kept reading the letter. Needless to say we are sooo excited to start this new journey. We will be moving to Brigham City or Ogden in the next few months depending on if Heath decides to transfer schools or not. Life couldn't be any better! :) Did I mention how HAPPY I am! Finally my dream has come true!!

Weekend Recap

Heath and I had the funnest weeked! We headed to Syracuse Thursday night to sleep over at my brother's house, so we could get an early start Friday morning driving to St. George. We left for St George at 7am and cruised straight there. We arrived at 11:30am. We got to grab some lunch at Subway (love the $5 any footlongs!) then I headed to the hygiene building to take my tests. They went REALLY well and I met so many cute girls! Seeing that this was my third year going down to St. George they know me by name which is really kinda funny. We will find out by the first of March if we got in or not, talk about nerve racking!!!

After my test we were able to enjoy the rest of the weekend in the beautiful weather! We checked into our hotel then headed to fiesta fun to go mini golfing! I usually rock at mini golf, but Heath killed me this time. Afterwards we met up with our friends Tim and Dani and went to eat at the Brick Oven. We ended the night by watching the Jazz game at our hotel. Such a fun day!

Saturday we got up bright and early and headed to my favorite St. George temple to do a session. Talk about breathtaking!

LAS VEGAS baby!

We stayed in the nicest place called tahiti village South of the strip. They had a shuttle that ran all day to and from the strip. We had so much fun walking around, gambling, tasting 12 different kinds of pop from around the world at the coke world, shopping, eating, etc. My favorite stores were H & M, and Juicy Couture store! Heath was soo mad when we went into Juicy and they had all these elk heads hanging on the walls with lipstick and jewelry and such on them. Hahaha. That's a hunter for ya!

Valentine's was fun. Since we got back Sunday from our trip we just decided to lay low and have Valentine's dinner right at home. Heath got my flowers and a box of chocolates. We just ate dinner and watched the Bachelor. It was perfect! I love my Valentine!

Christmas. . . finally and other activities

Christmas was perfect. Of course it was our first Christmas as a married couple and it was so great! We decided that we would sleep at my mom's house Christmas eve, so she wouldn't have to wake up on Christmas morning by herself. I was so excited to give Heath his gifts I could hardly stand it. We spent Christmas eve with the Lewis family which was so much fun. They have a tradition to act out the Birth of Jesus and Heath and I got to be Joseph and Mary. We then headed to Perry and watched a Christmas story then headed to bed. We woke up early so we could open presents then head to my brother Tom's house for breakfast. I was so SUPRISED with my gifts, Heath did such a good job. He gave me a red pea coat, a silver band so I can wear a ring at work, the cutest tan purse that he picked out himself, a shirt, and a huge bag of gummy bears. He knows me too well! :) He LOVED his new Gerber knife, book, protein powder, wallet, clothes, etc. It was fun. I loved that we got to spend the entire day with our families.

During the break we got to do alot of fun things! We stayed up at Wolf Creek resort with my brother Mark and his family, went to surf-n-swim, went to a USU gymnastics meet, made caramel apples, and spent time watching movies and playing games.

Hey everyone! We are still alive. Life has been soooo busy and crazy. I promise to post pics from christmas and all of the other things we have been up too soon. I am so HAPPY to say, ALL of my hygiene applications are in and we are headed to sunny ST. George in two weeks to take tests for the program. This will be my third year going down there and the past 2 years I have been an alternate so I am hoping this year is the year.... We will see! Other than that Heath started up another semester of school and is still wanting to apply to Dental School, I am still working at ABC Pediatric Dentistry and am loving every minute of it (besides last Tuesday when I got bit by a 3 and 1/2 year old) Life is good, just playing the waiting game.... :) got to love it

These beautiful girls are my darling nieces! Is it weird that these two chicas are like my bestest friends?!?! hahaha I LOVE hanging out with them! Last week they got to come and sleepover... not just for one night, but for Two! We had so much fun! We watched movies, drank orange julius's, played donkey kong, glitter toes, and makeovers! (Yes makeovers!) not only did I put makeup on them, but they wanted to do my hair. Madi braided it and Grace curled it. Cute huh?! Heath loves when they come over just as much as I do. They love to have Heath tuck them in at night and he makes them eggs and toast for breakfast which they think is pretty cool. Heath is starting to be all the nieces and nephews favorite.. Baptisms Babies Finals Parties

That's pretty much what we have been up to the last little while. Heath's little brother Kip was baptized a few Saturdays ago. I love baptisms! There is such a special spirit about them and I just love them. Heath and I and his 2 sisters sang I'm trying to be like Jesus at the Baptism I think I ruined the song hahaha, they are amazing singers so I felt quite silly singing with them, hopefully it sounded good.

*Grouse hunting (not sure if I spelled that right)

Thats right people my cute husband LOVES this time of year of course because he LOVES hunting all sorts of animals. He only left me for two nights this hunting season which I thought was pretty good. The other day he said he wanted me to come grouse hunting with him and I had NO idea what that word even meant! I know now.. Grouse is a type of bird. Cool eh? We didnt catch one, but it was fun hiking up the mountain with my hot husband :)

This year was kind of sad because my mom wasn't able to join the rest of our family this year. She was in Tennessee visiting my sis and we missed her company. Almost my entire family (minus my sisters) came to the pumpkin walk with us. Grace and Carson were able to sleep over the night before and we had a blast with them! Such a fun day!...

Heath's best friend Casey got married earlier this month in the Salt Lake Temple. This was the first sealing that I got to attend and it was sooo great! The other day I had just rushed from work and was walking to my chemistry class when some girl randomly asks me if she can take my picture for a project they were doing for business week. Honestly, I wanted to say no, but was trying to help her out so I said sure. She snapped a few pics and had me write my email address down just in case they decided to use my picture. Well Monday I got an email saying they did in fact use my picture. Heath went to the Jon M. Huntsman business building Tuesday morning to see if he could spot it. He walked through the main doors of the business building and there in the lobby was this little photo.....

The greatest weekend getaway

This weekend was so much fun! Heath and I wanted to go somewhere fun for the weekend so I pulled out my happenings book and started calling around to places in Park City. They were having an end of summer special where all their rooms were 50% off. We stayed at some condos right by the alpine slide for only $44 dollars a night!!! Can you believe that?!?! :) It was so fun, I will tell you all about it, but first on our way down to PC we stopped to see little Logan...

He is ADORABLE! He has the biggest hands and longest fingers I have ever seen!

So, we headed to Park City and got to our condos and my brother Mark called and said that him and his family were going to head up for the night, we met them at my favorite Baja Cantina for dinner then headed over to their condo to sit in the hot tub. Saturday we went on the ALpine Slide and Alpine Coaster which the coaster is awesome and so much better than the alipine slide. Its this huge roller coaster down the mountain except you are strapped in so you can go as fast as you want without falling out!

Then we headed to meet my sister at her salon and get Heath's hair cut. Afterwards we went to Kneaders bakery for lunch with my sis. It was so good to see her and her cute pregnant self :) She also gave Heath a way cute hair cut. Thanks sis! We headed to the outlets after and randomly ran into our friends Jack and Amanda who were staying in Deer Valley. They said they had to leave and couldn't stay that night and if we wanted we could come stay in their condo... this is what it looked like... how could we have turned it down?!?!?

We had our very own hot tub on the back patio that was so much fun and ate dinner at the RED Banjo that night on main street! I miss Park City already, it was such a great weekend with my husband! :)

Holy, I totally forgot to post about Peach Days. Well this peach days I slept over at my mom's Friday night because my cute ole husband thought that he needed to go hunt some antelope over yonder to that great state of Wyoming. :) It was our first night apart.. it was sad, but we survived. He had alot of fun with his dad eventhough they didnt shoot anything. Saturday I went to the parade with my old friend Mallory then headed to my grandparents fruitstand to work for the rest of the day. It was a fun day. Peach days is always the place to be!! Maybe next year Heath will get to experience it with me! :) Hunting or peach days? She missed out! Maybe next year she'll get to experience it with me!

Labor Day

yep.. just as the name implies Labor Day we worked our guts out at Heath's grandparents cabin. We hauled tree limbs, cut tree limbs, stacked tree limbs, and tried to burn as many as them as we could. It was a fun day, but very tiring. We have been so busy, but I will try and update you on the past month.

1.We started school.. I know super exciting right?!?! NOT!!

2. Heath had his 24th Birthday! (forgot to take pictures) I am bad at the whole picture thing.

3. We went to the Box Elder County Fair, Heath's first time attending.

4. We went to the Rodeo and Demolition Derby

and that about sums up the past month! We are looking forward to next week. My Brother and his wife are expecting their 4th child, we cannot wait to meet him. We are also planning a little weekend getaway! Can't wait! Untill next time!!!

Well everyone the job hunt is over and I have landed my dream job! I am the newest employee at....

ABC Pediatric Dentistry!! I have always dreamed about working at a pediatric office and feel so lucky to have gotten this job. Let me tell you how it came about. :) I was looking through th Herald Journal (the logan newspaper) and saw a job opening in the classifieds for a receptionist at a dental office. I have never been a receptionist, just an assistant for 5 years at various offices, but that didnt stop me, I still wanted to apply. I faxed my resume and the next day I got a call for an interview. Went to the interview Wednesday and there were about 9 other girls interviewing that same day. Interview went good and I fell in love with the ABC office and staff. They said they would be calling in the next few days to set up a second interview so low and behold I got a call Friday and set up an interview for today. I went in today and Dr. Allen asked which job I'd more prefer the receptionist (which was full time), or an assisting job (part-time) I couldn't resist and of course chose assisting! He said he had 78 applicants and only interviewed five today. I will be working 3 days a week which will be perfect with my school schedule. Wow am I lucky or what?!?! :) I can't wait to start. Just had to share the good news with everyone. Off to make eggplant parmesan for dinner and celebrate with my hubby!!

Brigham City Temple Groundbreaking

Saturday July 31st was such an amazing day. This was the day that the ground would be started for the building of the Brigham City Temple! My morning started super early. (The night before was the Lady Antebellum and Tim Mcgraw concert) We didnt get to bed till after 1am, and I had to wake up at 6am Saturday to make it to Brigham by 730am. It was more than worth it though. It was the most beautiful morning. I just remember how pretty and peaceful it seemed. My cute friend Erin that I use to work with at Dr. Wahlen's office let me tag a log with her and her family to the groundbreaking. We were so suprised that there weren't more people there. We brought along camp chairs and just sat as close as we could. We got to hear Russel M. Nelson speak, as well has President Boyd K. Packer and his sweet wife. They talked about ways we can start preparing for the temple here in Brigham City by talking with our families about temples, making sure they know how important it is to be sealed as a family for time and all eternity and how we should make it a bigger priority in attending the temple. When I think about having a temple right there in the heart of my hometown I get so excited. I loved when they said the temple will be surrounded by fruit trees (how fitting for the famous "fruit town")What an amazing blessing it will be to those that live in our community and other surrounding cities. The Brigham City Temple will be a replica of the Salt Lake, Logan, and Manti temples. It is supposed to be finished in the fall of 2012. I cannot wait. How grateful I am for temples. Blah, can I just say they make finding jobs so complicated these days. I spent over an hour applying for a job online at Chase bank and all of the sudden all of the info I had just writted dissappeared! WHY in the world can't you just take resume's around and find jobs the normal way instead of online?!?! It's strange, you'd think the employer would want to meet you in real life and not just see an application. ANYWAY.. I'll stop complaining, on a better note I had an interview today at the sports academy and it went really well. I would love to work there so I could work out for free, but the hours are pretty early so we'll see about that. I also took a few resume's to a couple dentist offices in town and hope to hear back from one of them seeing that I love those dental assisting jobs! :) Hopefully I will have better luck, I am kinda getting a little bored here at home all by my lonesome with no tv. I have been spending my time cooking new recipes which is way fun and have a new favorite blog. Island Park

Heath and I went and stayed in Island Park for a couple of nights with my brother Tom and his cute family. They found this awesome cabin on KSL and it was HUGE! It came equipped with a hot tub, fuz(k totally can't spell that one) ball table, and big screen tv. It was SO much fun. We went into Yellowstone the first day and the second day we went rafting down the river, came home sat by the campfire then ended the night with sitting in the hot tub star gazing. On our way home we stopped at the Rexburg Idaho and Idaho Falls temples. Such a fun weekend getaway. Thanks for the invite! :)

Much needed update + Fun things!

YEs, We are still alive!! Heath and I have almost been married for two months! Doesn't that seem so weird? :) We are loving every minute of being married and its finally all sinking in. During the week we are both super busy. I leave for work at 7:10am and I don't get home till 6:30-6:45ish. Heath on the other hand has it a little nicer since his work is just down the street from us. He usually goes in at 9:30 or 11:00am and gets home at 7:15pm. I try to have dinner on the table when he gets home, we eat, do the dishes together and lately we have been playing tennis up on campus and watching an episode of 24. I'm telling you, if you've never seen 24 you have got to start watching it. I know, i'm a few years behind.. really 9 years behind since we just started the first season, but it is sooo good! Updates on the past few months. Hmmm.. I will be leaving my job at Dr. Wahlen's office in 2 weeks and going back to Bridgerland to finish my dental assisting that I started in highschool so I can get an extra point when I apply for hygiene again next year then once school starts in August I will be re-taking a few classes and just working every other Friday. Heath and I applied for grants and luckily we got some which I am so grateful for! We have been going on lots of fun little trips and doing alot of fun things like....

Wow, it has been way to long since I last posted. Don't worry now that we have the internet at our apartment I will blog alot more often. Well to fill you in Heath and I got married on May 22nd. It was the best day of my entire life thus far, i can honestly say. The day started at 5am getting hair and makeup done then off to the temple. We had to be there at 8 to take pictures, so I met heath at our apartment so he could help me zip my dress. We headed to the temple and the weather was a little iffy but it held up for the most part. It did rain, but it was still so great. From there we were sealed at 11. It was so special to see all of our family and friends gathered together in one room to share this special day with us. After it was outside in the crazy wind for pictures! Our luncheon started at 1:30 at the Coppermill. It was so fun, our video didnt work which i was so sad about. Heath and I headed to my mom's to get ready for the reception. My hair had got so wind blown that it was a mess! I just pulled it in a pony for the reception (thats why it wasnt so cute folks.) Our reception turned out so cute! Everything was exactly the way I envisioned it. It was great, our line was so long the entire night and it was so neat to see everyone that came. I loved every minute! We cut the cake, danced our first dance, threw the bouquet, and garter then headed out to our hawaiian decorated car and headed to the anniversary inn. My entire fam!!

Heath just got the keys to our apartment! Is that weird or what? Mine and Heath's apartment. Holy! I am getting very excited. It hasnt really hit that in only 15 more days we will be husband and wife. Once I start moving I am sure that it will hit. :) Yay!! Anyway, we will start moving probably tomorrow or next week. Happy Mother's Day on sunday! Love you MOM!!

Pulling my hair out.. although then I really wouldnt have any! Haha. Planning a wedding is so much fun but so hectic at the same time. Yesterday I had my bridals which were really fun. This girl Sydney at the Aveda Salon in the Layton hills mall did a fantastic Job with my makeup. :) I spent most of the day running around getting ready then off to Logan me and my madre went. The weather was BEAUTIFUL and I can't wait to see how they turned out. My dear photographer Casey took us to 4 different locations

I hope they turned out good and I will be getting them back next week. :) Other good news, we found the cutest Little, and I mean little apartment about a block away from the Logan temple. It really is about the size of a box, but it will be fun! We are just getting invitations ready to send out and finishing up the rest of the wedding planning stuff. Make sure I have all of your addresses so we can send you one! Also, I am turning the big 23 ToMorrOw! Kinda sad that as you get older your birthday really is just another day. hope you all are having a HAPPY SprinG!

Sorry I shouldn't complain because it is all worth it. I have been engaged for 2 weeks today actually and still havent posted our story. Heath and I both had the day off and he suggested that i come up and go to the shooting range with him and I agreed. We got in the car and he headed north to Richmond where we had our first date at the same shooting range. I didnt thinkg anything of it. it was freezing cold so Heath set everything up then motioned for me to come out so i did. He asked me to look through the scope to see if he was hitting the target and as i looked through the scope his target was a sign that said

WILL YOU MARRY ME? I turned around and he was down on one knee!I couldnt believe it! I screamed yes! finally!! that night we both wanted to go to temple square and he said we should wear nice church clothes, i didnt know why but i agreed. long story short he suprised me with dinner at the Roof resturant where i have wanted to go my entire life. Dinner was amazing, very very special and i couldnt stop smiling. :) during dinner he pulled out this leu, i think thats how you spell it? and he said here put this on. I asked why? He said because we are going to Maui for our honeymoon!!! YUP folks, 3 of my dreams came true all on ONE MArch 25th day! I am so grateful for Heath and cannot wait to be married to him!

I'm ENGAGED!! We are getting married May 22nd in the Logan Temple. :) I will post all about soon, life is just super busy at the moment. I have never been so happy and I can't wait to be married to the man of my dreams!

Yesterday we decided to take a 3 hour drive and vacation overnight at the Wilderness lodge in Pigeon Forge TN. It's this hugh indoor/outdoor waterpark thats AMAZING! We could only swim in the indoor part of course because its still too cold outside, but it was a blast. The waterslides were awesome, made me a little motion sick, but other than that they were fun. They also had a wave pool and the flowrider thing like the one in Ogden. We finally made it back to my sisters house after a new fuel pump for the car and a little throwup out of Audrey! other than that, trip well accomplished!! :) it was so much fun!! Thanks Trish and Kev, we will have to go again next year! The view from our awesome room!

The Big Return

Okay so I have missed blogging so much and decided to start again now that my life is a tad bit more exciting than it was awhile ago. :) Also I miss all of you! so... Yay! I'm BACK!!
My life the past 6 months has been very exciting and frustrating all in one. I met a boy, Heath who is my BoyFriend and the greatest man alive! I also have had the stressful up and downs with Hygiene school. I got accepted to the Private school in orem, but turned it down because I thought I'd def get in to Weber or Dixie. After traveling down to st george 2 weekends ago and feeling great about it, I just found out I am an Alternate again for the second year in a row. Also, Saturday I recieved a letter from Weber State... and well you guessed it... that was a NO.

What now?

I have no idea what the future holds, all I know is that I really thought this was going to be my year and didnt even plan for what would happen if i didnt get in. Yes there is still a chance someone will decline and I will get to go to Dixie, but with my luck this is not very likely. Looks like I will be going back to school and just getting my bachelor's in something. I have thought about doing pharmaceutical rep stuff or even nursing. I really have no idea, only that I cannot and will not put my life on hold yet another year to try for hygiene. Now, I am just trying to figure out why my lifelong dream is just not working out for me. I'm sure it'll all work out, but untill then I have alot to figure out, here are some pics from the last couple of weeks!
